Ruggedman and Isio De La Vega break up
  • Source: thenetng.com

The rapper is ready to settle down. Who will the bride be?

Ruggedman has repeatedly told close friends his first real experience with love was during his undergraduate years at the Lagos State University (LASU). He once admitted in an interview that he would have been long married were it not for some issues. According to www.vanguardngr.com, ‘I was that crazy about her. But some very personal family issues came up and at the end of the day, we had to break up. Trust me, if that hadn’t happened, I’d be married by now’, he said, talking about the relationship that lasted five years

Now with Isio allegedly out of the picture, Michael seems less close to marriage. Very reliable sources told NET last week, that the couple broke up amicably months ago, agreeing to keep it hush hush.

Miss Wanogho offered no comments when NET contacted her, on Saturday November 21. ‘‘I’d rather not discuss that now please’’ she pleaded. ‘‘Can we talk about something else?’’

Insiders say quiet and easy-going Isio has moved on- focusing on her modelling, fashion and TV career; while ex-boyfriend Rugged on the other hand is trying hard to focus on his clothing line (20th September Wear), and the last album in his music career.

When asked about Isio, he simply replies ‘she’s cool’.

Meanwhile, contrary to reports that he was moving into Omole estate, in Lagos, we can reliably inform you that Ruggedman recently moved from his Yaba home into a new apartment (a duplex) in Crystal Estate, Amuwo-Odofin (also in Lagos). He reportedly told those close to him he out everything in his former residence (except personal effects) so he can have the joy of putting together a new home from scratch.

”Yes i just moved into a new duplex around Amuwo in Lagos” Ruggedman told NET on Saturday November 21. He however declined commenting on the status of his relationship with Isio. ”I always want to keep my private life private, so I have nothing to say about my relationship. I’m sorry”.

  • @Drixie: It's not uncommon for celebrities to change their names. In the modelling industry and Tinseltown, if your name doesn't sound catchy, you're out. You'll be forgotten very soon. Your name eventually becomes your trademark.

P.S: The reason why I checked out this post was because of the name Isio De La Vega. The name caught my attention sharp sharp and I didn't even know her before now!
  • @ Mr. StrictlyOnlineBiz

Have you heard of supermodel Oluchi Onweagba?

What about Genevieve Nnaji who recently got featured on Oprah?

The girl is just plain dumb and stupid. Thats all. As for me, I will never ever trade my father's name for fame.
  • @Drixie: I wouldn't be quick to say Oluchi is now a Supermodel. Topmodel yes but Supermodel I don't think so. Supermodels are the likes of Kate Moss, Tyra Banks, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schieffer, Gisele Bunchen.

Supermodels are recognised WORLDWIDE & Topmodels aren't.

It's not a matter of trading your father's name for fame. It's owning a business name. Example Jay-Z = Shawn Carter. For all you care to know, all her official documents, still have her real surname on them all.
  • Topmodel, Supermodel, UltraSupermodel....

My point it she is popular and it was not because she changed her father's name. You see, people like Isio De La Vega will find it difficult to get to where people like Oluchi are today because they are not proud of where they are coming from in the first instance.

About Jay Z, a musician's stage name is an entirely different issue.
  • If Oluchi hadn't won the premiere edition of Mnet Face Of Africa, I really don't think she'd be as famous as she is today despite some folks saying she looks like Naomi which I don't think so cos the later is FIERCE and she's not.

You say she ain't proud of where she's from, have you heard any gist that I'm not privy to? Let me in on it? Did she say something "OH NO YOU DIDN'T?"

P.S: I ain't hating on Oluchi. She's a great model but could add a few pounds cos her look is extreme @ the moment.
  • He he... for her looks, na she sabi... she can become a broomstick for all I care.

As per winning MNET Face of Africa, every model, supermodel, or celebrity will not be where they are today without some form of lucky break or the other. Even Naomi Campbell had to win something to get noticed. Nobody went to her house to pick her up and stick her on TV. She came out, participated in something and got noticed. Thats the way it works.

That said, it is what the models do after their lucky break that makes or breaks them. We have heard of so many of them going under. One important thing about conquering that kinda world is believing in yourself and not forgetting where you come from. Isio has broken that rule.

I still maintain my stance. She is a mumu girl... anyday, anytime. ;)
  • Most supermodels were discovered while they were going about their normal life. Kate Moss @ an airport lounge and Naomi, Gisele Bundchen @ a shopping arcade/mall, Laetitia Casta @ the beach. The few likes of Victoria Silvedst and Heidi Klum used competitions to get there.

R u insinuating that Isio doesn't believe in herself and dat's why she changed her name cos if you are, you might be totally wrong. The fashion industry is hellish and calls the shot 99% of the time. You do whatever they tell you or you're F**UCKING OUT! It ain't for the light hearted who sometimes think God forbid, I can't change my name, God forbid, I can't pose nude, God forbid, I can't stand the gays. You might want to watch Devil Wears Prada to get a hint of what I'm talking about.
  • I've seen Devil Wears Prada and ironically, that girl did not make it by changing who she is.
  • Because she didn't actually want to be a fashionista! All she wanted was to be a great journalist. She was weak @ playing dirty/mean and so she quit!
  • It still does not change the fact that Isio De La Vega is a mumu girl.
  • Why do I get the vibe that you know Isio personally? lol
  • Really, it is not a personal thing.

It is not just common in Nigeria to find people changing their names to get fame. Most people even want their surnames to become household name. So, hers is just strange and kinda annoying. There are some things that are not worth importing from the West.
  • Anyway sha, names don't hold much importance to me as they don't make you who you are. In my opinion, they just brand you. I wouldn't hesitate to change my name for professional reasons if it's going to guarantee fame and fortune and of course if the new name fits my looks and personality. ;)

I'd rather have money in the bank then latch unto a name for "cultural reasons" and wallow in poverty.

P.S: This our discussion has given me an idea for a new post on my blog ;)
  • Names are very important in our society.

I would rather strive hard gain fame and my name popular and etched in the sands of time rather than change my name to gain fame.

But then, I'll have to admit its a matter of personal preference though. All the same, Isio De La Vega is a mumu girl.
  • Saw your friend last week on the G-Bam show and men I was not impressed. She seemed so bored interviewing Monalisa Chinda and couldn't wait to end the interview. She's got a lot to learn about faking it.
Reminds me of Naomi Campbell. Stunning Supermodel but when she opens her mouth, I ain't so impressed.
  • ...lol.. is it cos of naomi's semi-jamaican accent?

My friend? Which of my friends? Isio De La Vega??? She can jump from third mainland bridge for all I friggin' care!!!
  • @drixie: ROFLMAO! Drama go kill you one day.

@folasanwo: I really can pinpoint what it is exactly when I see her giving speeches or interviews. She doesn't excite me as much Heidi or Tyra.

P.S: Excite as in get me interested in what she has to say.
