SUPER EAGLES LIST FOR NATIONS CUP, 3 locals included
  • Three Local-based players have been included in Nigeria’s preliminary squad for the Orange Africa Cup of Nations, Angola 2010.

    The trio are Bayelsa United goalkeeper, Bassy Akpan, defender Chibuzor Okonkwo also from the camp of the reigning Nigerian champions and Bartholomew Ibenegbu of Orange CAF Champions League losing finalists, Heartland United.

    Head Coach Shuaibu Amodu included the local-based in his preliminary 32-man squad for the 27th edition of the continent’s showpiece football event. The squad include five goalkeepers, 11 defenders, nine midfielders and seven attackers.

    The players are expected to report at the Fairmont Zimbani Lodge near Durban on Tuesday, December 29. The team will train at their Durban-base before leaving for Angola on January, two days of the opening match of the tournament.
