Is the average Nigerian mind criminal?
  • I am putting up this post because I stumbled on this: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.fbi.gov/wanted/fugitives/cyber/onwuhara_te.htm">http://www.fbi.gov/wanted/fugitives/cyb ... ara_te.htm</a><!-- m -->

    Actually, this guy is the second most wanted guy in America right after Osama Bin Laden. Occurrences like these further buttresses pronouncements from people like Oprah and Colin Powell (I wondered why he was dancing to yahoozee) that Nigerians are born criminals.

    Our leaders have done nothing to help this image. Rather, they steal money, take it to the west where they are charged for money laundering.

    What do you think about the world's general perception about the average Nigerian.
  • For me, I think that since our population is so much that one out of every five black person you meet is a Nigerian, I feel that people around the world are more likely to encounter Nigerian criminals and Nigerian geniuses more than any other black people.

    But the good ones are rarely celebrated in diaspora locations they have found themselves except the ones who have made it to the society's top echelons such as Seal and Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

    My point here is when the villains strike, the news is more heralded because bad news spreads fast.
  • bless you drixie! you just summed it all up. good for you. it is saddening to note that we hear more of the bad that is done instead of the good. not all nigerians are criminals. but most are (laughs)
  • let me think on this a minute...........i promise to reply ASAP
  • mr admin are you okay? just a question because your POST TOPIC and your comments are totally different, i dont even know which side to take whether you topic or your comments...i get dry vegetable weeh i wrap for paper oh, if u dont mind
  • Mr. Tarry, are you okay?

    You should learn to read posts properly before replying. Now, let me break it down for you. I hope you read and understand this time.

    POST 1: I asked a question expecting everybody to say what they think. Its not the type of question where I want an answer to satisfy my curiousity. It is that type of question where everyone bares their my mind.

    POST 2: I posted what I felt about the situation since I am also eligible to bare my mind.

    See, it was not so hard afterall, all you needed to do was read before you reply, and not reply before you think.

    We are still friends abi? <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt=":wink:" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: --> <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->
